Writing Update

It’s update time!!! Don’t we just love update time?! This pops up on my to-do the first Sunday of every month. I don’t always post it on the first Sunday, but it’s when I’m supposed to do it according to my schedule. This weekend, however, I’m going away, so I figured I’ll write it now.

I was panic-writing last month to make a deadline. Things got out of hand, characters took over, and words needed to be typed. The result is that I’ve written 53,526 words since the last update post. These things happen 😅

As a result, I’m 46.33% done with the 356,000 words that I want to write during 2023. I’ve written 169,107 words, so I have 195,893 to go. If I keep up the same tempo (I most likely won’t) I will be done by November 15, and to make the goal, I only have to write 812 words per day till the end of the year.

Pretty cool, ey? I’m still a bit out of breath trying to keep up with my deadlines, though, and I fear it seems this one won’t be any easier than the previous ones. Characters are running away again 😆

I’ll make it though… hopefully.

Writing Update

It’s update time!!! I love doing these posts because while I love numbers, stats, goals, and deadlines, I don’t keep track of how much I’ve written every day or week or however you like to count. Sometimes I think weekly goals would suit me, but I never get as far as to try them.

I have a box on my monthly overview on my bullet journal where I write the wordcount I’m on at the time I’m writing this post, and then when it comes up on my to-do the next time, I compare the numbers, delete the story that’s gone through editing and add the new I’ve started on.

Since the last time I did an update post, I’ve written 39.300 words. It’s not often it’s that even, and had I known, I might have written 700 more to get to 40k, but it is what it is.

Adding those 39.300 words to those I already had in 2023, leaves me 31.67% done, which I think is pretty good since we’re a quarter into the year. I have a total of 115.581 words written, that’s 1256 words per day on average, and I only have to write 913 words per day to hit my goal.

If I keep up the 1256 words per day, I’ll reach 365.000 on December 6th, and wouldn’t that be nice 😁

I’m doing Camp NaNo this month, and I’ve said I’m gonna do 30k. More would of course be great, but it’s Easter, the kids are off school, and I had planned on going to my sister’s for a few days, so I suspect my routine will be disrupted.

So far so good!

Writing Update

It’s update time! I was afraid I hadn’t written much this past month. I’ve been feeling pretty low and had several days when I did admin instead of writing any words, but I’ve written 32,631 words since the last update post. Not mind-blowing but it’s okay.

I’ve submitted Mated to the Fire Dragon (on the last day before the deadline) and am on my third day of writing a story for Go Fishing Day. I don’t really know where I’m going, but I’ve started, so yay.

So far in 2023, I’ve written 76,281 words, which equals 20.9%, which equals 1191 words per day. Since I said I’ll try to have an average of 1k a day, I’m pleased with that. It would be better if I had more, of course, because when you least expect it, real life happens, but so far so good.

If I keep up the same tempo, I’ll be done with my 365,000 words on December 18th.

Slow and steady wins the race, right? 😏 It would be good if I could get ahead because I need to write a December story for Ofelia before the end of September, and so far this year, I’ve barely made Holly’s deadlines. It’ll be fine, still plenty of time, but it would be good not to have to rush.

How are you doing on your plans and goals?
